Can this actually work?

My parents are pretty protective, they let me have boyfriends and to hang out with guys, but they will definatly not approve of James; they have heard way too many stories about him. Well James said his parents are away for the next week so, he invited me over to his place. I am always honest with my parents, but I can't tell them about this. So, I'm planning to say I'm going downtown with my friend shopping, instead I'm actually going to bus to James, he lives about 20 minutes from me. I'm worried sonehow my plan won't work? Any tips to make this go smoothly? I'm 16 almost 17, I dont drive yet.
